Apple’s head of car project resigns for personal reasons

Steve Zadesky, Apple’s head of the auto project, has resigned for personal reasons. Zadesky has been in charge of the project for the past two years and has been with the company for 16 years.

The news is according to sources from The Wall Street Journal. Zadesky is still at Apple and when he will actually leave the company is unknown at this time. Zadesky led the project from the start. He had the responsibility of setting the project objectives and increasing the size of the team. Last September, 600 people are said to be working on the project, which is internally called Project Titan.

Zadesky has also worked on many other products at the US company, including the first iPod and all iPhone models to date. He also worked as an engineer at Ford from 1996 to 1999. It is not clear who will take over from Zadesky. Apple has still not given official confirmation that it is working on its own car. In the past, however, there have been reports that Apple is using an old, converted and heavily guarded naval base to test its cars and that the company has been in talks with the state of California to arrange permission to use its self-driving cars on public roads.
