Dell shows Latitude laptops with thin bezel and Alienware with OLED screen
Dell has shown new laptops at CES, including business Latitude models with a thin InfinityEdge screen bezel and an Alienware laptop with OLED screen. The manufacturer also releases budget Inspiron laptops.
The Latitude 13 in the 7000 series is Dell’s first business machine to feature an InfinityEdge display. Earlier, the XPS 13 and XPS 15 already received such a screen, which has edges of about 5 mm thick. The new Latitude has two USB-C ports with support for Thunderbolt 3. In addition, there are mini HDMI and USB 3.0 available. One of the two USB-C ports can be used for charging and the manufacturer releases USB-C accessories to expand the number of interfaces. There will be models with full HD resolution and QHD + variants, and the laptop has a carbon fiber housing as standard, but versions with an aluminum chassis also appear. The processor is a Core M model and therefore the laptop does not need to be cooled with a fan. The laptop will be released in March in the Benelux for an unknown price.
The Dell Latitude 12 7000 is a business 12.5″ convertible and consists of a tablet with a keyboard accessory. As standard, Dell includes a Slim Keyboard, which in addition to a thin keyboard consists of a cover with an adjustable stand. Users can also $120 purchase a Premium Keyboard, which has keys with more travel and a better touchpad. The tablet connects magnetically to the keyboards and these parts have no interfaces or extra battery. The interfaces of the Latitude 12 are two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3, a card reader and SIM card slot. The starting price of this model is 1199 euros and it will be available in February in a full HD and a UHD version.
The other laptops that Dell is showing for the first time at CES are new Inspiron 11 models. The Inspiron 11 3000 series has 11.9″ screens with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. Dell provides them with USB 3.0 and HDMI, and there are 2GB memory and 32GB emmc storage memory, as is often the case with budget laptops with Windows 10. The processor is a Celeron of the Intel Skylake generation.Dell will release the models in blue, red and white from January 18, for a price of 301 euros.
New Alienware laptops did not appear, but there was the announcement that the Alienware 13 can be equipped with an OLED screen later this year. That screen will have a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and the response time is 1 to 2ms. Apart from the screen option, nothing changes with the gaming laptop. Dell did not yet say what the additional cost of the existing Alienware 13 will be.
