EvLeaks: Samsung Galaxy S7 gets an SD card slot and is waterproof
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be waterproof and get SD card slots for expanding the storage memory. This is reported by EvLeaks, which released many images and details of unannounced smartphones last year.
While Samsung made the Galaxy S5 waterproof, the Galaxy S6 series is not. The S7 series receives an IP67 rating for water resistance to a depth of one meter for thirty minutes, EvLeaks reports on the Venturebeat site. EvLeaks relies on only an anonymous source, but in recent years has built up an almost flawless track record in the field of smartphone details and images.
The S7 series also gets larger batteries than the S6 phones. Where the regular S6 has a battery of 2550mAh, that would go to 3000mAh with the S7. The S7 Edge, which is slightly larger, will have a 3600mAh battery, reports EvLeaks. Of all the S6 variants, only the S6 Active, which was only released in the United States, has a battery with about that capacity.
Samsung will provide the S7 with a camera with a maximum resolution of twelve megapixels. It will probably be a Britecell sensor. The camera has an f/1.7 lens. The S6 has an f/1.9 lens. Because the camera module is thinner, the camera would no longer protrude from the housing. Furthermore, the design of the S7 is as good as the same, reports EvLeaks.
The S7 has a 5.1″ screen with 2560×1440 pixels, just like the current S6. The S7 Edge has a slightly larger screen of 5.5″, with the same resolution. Samsung would make an ‘always on’ function for the S7, where the screen can always show information. Lumia phones and before that Symbian models from Nokia have had that for years.
The S7s run on an Exynos 8 Octa-soc or a Snapdragon 820. It is unknown which soc the manufacturer will use in the Benelux. Samsung would like to present the S7 series for Mobile World Congress in February and release it in March, reports EvLeaks. His information is in line with what was previously rumored.
