Xiaomi releases Mi TV Stick with support up to 1080p for 40 euros
Xiaomi has officially presented the Mi TV Stick. The manufacturer brings the Android TV-based dongle on the market for forty euros, although no release date for the Benelux is known yet. The maximum image resolution supported is 1080p.
The Mi TV Stick supports the display of content up to 1080p in combination with 60fps. There is support for Dolby and DTS sound, with probably no further than 5.1 surround. It is not clear to what extent there is support for HDR, but it is that Google Assistant and Chromecast are built into the streaming device.
The device contains a chip with four ARM Cortex A53 cores, to be precise the Amlogic S905Y2 in combination with an ARM Mali-450 GPU. There is also 1GB of ram and the storage space is 8GB. Wifi and bluetooth 4.2 are supported and there is a micro USB port.
The device measures 92.4 x 30.2 x 15.2mm, weighs 28.5g and runs on Android TV 9. The Mi TV Stick comes with a remote control, which has buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and Prime Video. The dongle actually combines the hardware of the existing Mi Box S with a smaller size, although the Mi Box S has 2GB of ram and that player has some support for 4k.
