OnePlus is releasing the final version of the Android 9 upgrade for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. A public beta version has been available since last month. In addition to new features, the upgrade includes the April security date.

OnePlus reports in an email that the upgrade to Android 9 for the devices will be released worldwide from Wednesday. Users get a revamped interface and a new Do Not Disturb mode with different settings. The manufacturer also promises improvements to the camera, including through a Google Lens integration.

In mid-April, OnePlus already released a public beta version of OxygenOS based on Android 9 for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. That version had to be downloaded manually. Users will receive the final version of the upgrade over-the-air.

In July last year, OnePlus announced that the 2016 devices would receive an upgrade to Android 9. Initially it was stated that the upgrade would come in the same year, but in October OnePlus made it clear that it needs more time. It is the third Android upgrade for the devices; both models came on the market with Android 6.
