Publisher pulls Lord of the Fallen 2 developer off project
Defiant Studios has been removed from the game Lord of the Fallen 2 by publisher CI Games. The publisher found the quality of the game to be substandard so far. CI Games has decided to finish the game indoors.
Publisher CI Games states in a Polish press release that the quality delivered so far has not met expectations. In addition, the publisher would have called on the studio three times to improve the development work, Eurogamer reports. CI Games has chosen to finish the game itself with outside help.
Defiant Studios says it categorically disagrees with CI Games’ response. David Grijns, founder and manager of Defiant Studios, says his team knows how to make games. According to him, this is clear from the ‘key role’ that his team had in games such as Just Cause 3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Devil May Cry and Far Cry 5. Grin indicates that he cannot comment further due to contractual obligations.
A year ago, CI Games recruited Defiant Studios to work on the new Lord of the Fallen game, after a period of silence surrounding the game. The plan then was to start over with the development of the game.
