Google labels apps in Play Store ‘with ads’

Google will label apps in the Play Store from January if the app contains ads. This is according to an e-mail that developers have received. Developers must notify whether the app contains ads by January 11th.

The label should make it clear to users what content an app contains. Developers should make it clear in the Pricing and Distribution section of the Play Developers Console whether their app contains ads, writes Google. The “contains ads” label is already there for apps in the Family section of the Play Store and is now expanding, according to the email a developer posted to Google+.

Since developers must provide the information by January 11, it appears that Google plans to start using the label in its download store for Android devices early next year. For some time now, an app has stated whether it offers an option for in-app purchases.
