Microsoft starts rolling out major update for Xbox One in Preview program
The promised major update to the Xbox One should be available this weekend to all users participating in the Preview program. The update brings, among other things, a new interface and compatibility with Xbox 360 games.
Microsoft had previously promised to come up with the software update in the short term, but according to CEO Mike Ybarra state the roll-out is scheduled for this weekend. The new Xbox One software will then be available to all users who have signed up for the Preview program.
The so-called New Xbox One Experience brings a number of long-awaited innovations. One of the features is support for games intended for the Xbox 360, although not all of these games can be used on the Xbox One immediately. Many users had asked for backwards compatibility. In addition, Microsoft has built a new interface that should be more intuitive and easier to use, and several bugs have been squashed.
The software is expected to be released for all Xbox One users starting next month. The new software was announced a few months ago and has been tested for some time in a closed program among some Preview members.
