Adobe Releases Flash Zero-Day Vulnerability Patch

Adobe has released an update to the Flash Player that fixes a critical vulnerability. The existence of the zero-day vulnerability was announced this week. Earlier, Adobe said it would not release a patch until next week.

Flash Player with version number 19.0.0.226 was made available by Adobe faster than expected. The update implements security fixes, Adobe refers to a critical vulnerability that was discovered earlier this week.

Adobe responded quickly after the discovery, promising to release a patch the week of October 19. However, the update has already been made available and will be rolled out automatically over the next 24 hours.

According to the security researcher who discovered the zero-day, the vulnerability was used by hackers in Operation Pawn Storm, targeting government agencies and high-ranking politicians in Ukraine and Russia. Trend Micro believes the operation will be run from Russia.
