Renders hint at fingerprint scanner and dual camera for Xiaomi Mi Note 2
Renders have appeared online of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the presumed successor to the Mi Note devices that were released earlier this year. The Mi Note 2 would include a fingerprint scanner and a dual camera on the back.
The renders, which Weibo user JKuma posted online and discovered by XiaomiToday, show a thin-bezel design just like the Mi Note Pro. The button on the front would house a fingerprint scanner. It is unclear whether it is a physical button like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6s, or whether it is a touch-sensitive button like the OnePlus 2.
The back shows two cameras under each other, such as the Honor 6 Plus and HTC One M8. It is unknown what Xiaomi wants to use the function for, but other manufacturers use it for tricks such as manually choosing a different point to focus the photo afterwards.
The Mi Note 2 is said to have a 5.7″ screen with 2560×1440 pixels and run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820-soc, coupled with 4GB of memory. The front camera has a maximum resolution of 12 megapixels, the rear cameras should come out at 23 megapixels.
The Mi Note series appeared last spring, so it is not obvious that the successor will appear soon. Xiaomi invariably releases a new Mi phone in the fall, which means it will probably be a Mi 5.
