MMD announces 21:9 curved monitor with 34-inch diagonal
MMD has announced a new Philips monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a diagonal of 34 inches for the fourth quarter. The curvature of the IPS screen has a radius of 3.8 meters and the screen has a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels.
The IPS screen of the Philips BDM3490UC/00 has a maximum brightness of 300cd/m² and the screen could display 99 percent of the sRGB color space. MMD claims that ‘the curved shape reduces the user’s need to turn his or her head to see what’s happening in the corner of the screen’. MDD mentions a radius of 3.8 meters, where curved TVs usually have a radius of 4 meters. Since the user of a monitor is closer to the image, it doesn’t seem curved enough to live up to MMD’s claim.
The screen supports picture-in-picture and displaying images from two different devices side by side. MMD further provides the monitor with four USB 3.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4 and an HDMI 1.4 interface with MHL support. The Philips BDM3490UC/00 will be available in the fourth quarter for a price of 1149 euros.
