Medion introduces aluminum ultrabook with 3200×1800 pixel resolution
Medion will release an ultrabook in the fourth quarter with high-end specifications. The manufacturer provides the Akoya S3401 with a 13.3″ screen with QHD+ resolution of 3200×1800 pixels. The housing is completely made of aluminum.
Medion wants to profile itself with the Akoya S3401 as a brand that not only serves the budget segment, but can also make high-end laptops. The ultrabook therefore gets a Skylake Core i7, up to 8GB of RAM and an SSD of up to 512GB, although the manufacturer also talks about a 1TB hard drive. The thickness of the device with aluminum housing is 18 mm and the weight is 1.46 kilograms.
The battery contains four cells and is of the lithium polymer type. The capacity is not disclosed by Medion but it should be enough for up to 7 hours of work time, although the actual time depends on the type of use. In terms of connectivity, there is support for bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi-ac. The specification list mentions usb type c, but it is not known what speed the reversible connection can handle. There are also a regular USB 3.0 and 2.0 port and HDMI is also present.
Medion will release the laptop in the fourth quarter in gold, gray and silver. The starting price is 899 euros, but that will be for a simple configuration. Medion also mentions the optional presence of a screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Medion is the main supplier of supermarket chain Aldi, but it is unknown whether the Akoya will also be on the shelves there.
