At the moment, Windows Explorer shows the date by default as, for example, ’19-12-2018 20:24′, but Microsoft will change that to, for example, ‘0 minutes ago’, according to the announcement of the Insiders build 18305. view becomes the default and is called ‘friendly dates’, but the current view remains available as an option.

The new view should make it clearer when a file was last modified. The feature will be in the next Windows version, which is currently known as 19H1. The feature is already included in Insiders build 18305, but is not yet visible to all users of that build. When that will be the case is unknown.

There are more changes in the new build. For example, Start has a simplified view after a new setup, so that it is clearer. The Settings menu has also been redesigned with a header at the top with frequently used settings. In addition, there will be an Office app to instantly access recently edited documents, spreadsheets or other files. It is based on the layout of office.com.

In addition, there will be a shortcut to send symbols such as the euro sign or kaomoji, such as ¯_(ツ)_/¯. That now requires several steps. It is with the emoji under the shortcut Windows key and dot. The Insiders build includes those new features, other users will likely get with the 19H1 upgrade, which is likely to come out around April.
