Microsoft allows parents to restrict crossplay on Xbox One Xbox
Microsoft has expanded the parental control settings on the Xbox One with some new features. From now on, parents can easily indicate whether a child is allowed to use the crossplay options of a game.
Fortnite is the first game to tap into the Xbox One’s new crossplay settings, Microsoft reports. Parents can control whether their child’s account is allowed to play games or communicate with players on platforms outside of Xbox Live. The options are in the parent’s Microsoft account and will be added to other crossplay games later on.
Parents now have fifteen tools to manage their child’s account via their Microsoft account. They are divided into four categories: privacy, screen time, content filters, and purchase restrictions. One of the components of the parental controls is an activity report, which children can also view themselves to gain more insight into their own gaming habits. Children can also ask their parents to extend screen time, or ask permission to buy an app or visit certain websites.
