Customer Service Bethesda Briefly Revealed Users’ Data
Due to a bug at Fallout 76 publisher Bethesda Softworks, users who requested a support ticket could also see the details of others who had done so. This included e-mail addresses, name and address details and telephone numbers.
Several users reported the issue on Reddit. It appears that users were able to get into Bethesda’s customer service system and see everything that employees can see. It’s not clear how many customers saw the data and how many people outside the company took a look at it.
The bug has now been fixed. Bethesda acknowledges the problem on Twitter. The publisher is investigating the matter and states that users who may be affected will be kept informed. Bethesda emphasizes that no passwords or credit card details have been leaked.
Bethesda’s customer service is currently getting a lot of attention, as the Power Armor Edition of Fallout 76 doesn’t exactly include the extras that were advertised. The weekend bag that comes with this edition was originally supposed to be of a more expensive and nicer material than what was eventually delivered. Bethesda initially did not want to do anything with it, but is now swapping the bags after long criticism from gamers.
