Renders show suspected Samsung Galaxy S10 +
Renders have appeared showing the suspected design of the Samsung Galaxy S10+. The renders indicate that there is a hole in the screen for a dual front camera. A 3.5mm jack can also be seen on the renders.
The phone in the renders posted online by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles measures 157.5×75.0x7.8mm, which is slightly larger than the Galaxy S9+. The screen has a diagonal of 6.44 “, claims OnLeaks. In recent years, it has often proven to have correct CAD drawings of smartphones, such as the S9 and Note 9, long before the announcement.
Behind the screen is an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It differs from the optical fingerprint scanners of the OnePlus 6T and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, among others, because it works with ultrasonic sound instead of image to capture the fingerprint. Such scanners are not yet on the market.
There are three cameras on the back, all of which have a different angle of view. There is a ‘normal’ camera, a model with a wide-angle lens and a variant with a telephoto lens. More and more manufacturers seem to opt for such a setup. Huawei does that, for example, with its Mate 20 Pro. Next to the cameras are an LED flash and presumably a heart rate monitor. Samsung has been putting a heart rate monitor on its Galaxy S and Note devices for years. 91Mobiles doesn’t mention an iris scanner like the S8 and S9 have.
The device has a 3.5mm jack, just like all previous Galaxy S models. Many high-end smartphones of the past year no longer have that analog connection, as manufacturers hope that this will encourage more consumers to buy Bluetooth headsets. Sony and OnePlus, among others, took that step last year, after Apple, Huawei and Motorola, among others, already did so. HTC brought the 3.5mm jack back on its new midrange phone U12 Life. Its predecessor, the U11 Life, does not have it. The manufacturer says that because buyers of midrange devices often do not want to spend extra money on a bluetooth headset. Almost all cheaper smartphones have the audio connection.
Samsung will probably present its Galaxy S10 in the winter; Galaxy S devices have so far all been released in the period between the beginning of March and the end of May. A logical moment for the announcement is the telecom fair Mobile World Congress, the event at which Samsung previously announced the S9, S7, S6, S5 and S2.
