Apple Music will be available on Amazon Echo devices
Apple Music will be released on Amazon Echo devices in the week of December 17, Amazon announced. According to the company, controlling music is one of Alexa’s most popular features.
Beginning December 17, Echo device owners with an Apple Music subscription will be able to activate an Apple Music skill in the Alexa app and link their account. Then they can control the music streaming service with voice commands. Users can listen to songs, albums, artists and playlists via the smart speakers, as well as radio station and Apple’s Beats 1 live stream, Amazon reports.
Amazon Echo is natively compatible with its own Music Unlimited and Prime Music services; the speakers have also been able to handle Spotify, Deezer and TuneIn for some time. There was no support for Apple Music yet. Incidentally, Apple’s smart speaker, the HomePod, officially only has support for Apple Music and not for third-party music services.
