Rumor: Samsung equips most expensive Galaxy S10 variant with ceramic back
Samsung would like to provide the most expensive variant of the Galaxy S10 with a back made of ceramic instead of glass, SamMobile reports. That would be a break with recent years, when Samsung provided its Galaxy S models with a back made of tempered glass.
The ceramic back would come on the version of the Galaxy S10 with a 6.7-inch screen, four cameras on the back and 5G, SamMobile reports. The other three variants of the phone would have a back made of chemically tempered glass, like Samsung. that has been used since the Galaxy S6.Chemically tempered glass is the material that virtually all smartphone manufacturers have opted for for high-end models this year.
Wireless charging is also possible with a ceramic back, a function that Samsung has also supported since the Galaxy S6. It would not be the first ceramic smartphone on the market by far. Xiaomi equipped its Mi Mix from 2016 in the most expensive variant with a ceramic housing and last year’s Essential Phone also has that material.
There have been a lot of rumors about the Galaxy S10 lately. Samsung generally announces its Galaxy S phones in the winter. In recent years, this happened around the telecom fair Mobile World Congress in February.
