League of Legends creator Riot Games has teamed up with Marvel Entertainment to create a graphic novel based on the stories from the world behind the moba game. There will be both digital and paper versions of the graphic novel.

The graphic novel revolves around the champion Ashe and will be called League of Legends: Ashe: Warmother. This will be released in paper form in May next year, but a number of parts will follow via digital platforms from 19 December. The story is set in the world of League of Legends, Runeterra. There is no information yet about more stories that may or may not come out.

According to VentureBeat, Marvel’s editor-in-chief CB Cebulski says League of Legends is one of the industry’s best-known games and that the game’s unique world with its extensive character count is a perfect fit for a comic book. Greg Street of Riot Games believes there are similarities between the League of Legends universe and the Marvel universe, given the large number of characters from diverse backgrounds.

Ashe is known in the game as an attack damage carry and is a female character who attacks opponents with arrows. She is one of the forty original champions in the game. The story about Ashe is written by the writer Odin Austin Shafer, who has been employed by Riot for some time. The developer has already published a number of stories about different champions on its website.
