Astroneer will be released on February 6, 2019 for PC and Xbox One
Version 1.0 of space exploration game Astroneer will be released on February 6, 2019 for PC and Xbox One. The game was already available through Steam Early Access. The 1.0 version adds new planets and other options.
In addition to seven new planets, Astroneer 1.0 includes new challenges and new character customization options. There will also be special servers that allow crossplay between the PC and Xbox One version of the game. Currently, the game runs on Windows, but Linux support is also coming. Users report on reddit that the game already works well on Linux via Steam Play.
According to the makers, more than two million copies have already been sold during the Early Access period of the game. The development of the game was announced in 2015 and the test version came out a year later. The early version can be purchased for twenty euros on Steam and via Xbox Game Preview. After the final release, the game will cost thirty euros.
The developers describe the game as an accessible interplanetary survival sandbox in which everything takes place during the 25th century gold rush. Players must explore space, survive in harsh conditions and become rich. Astroneer is made by System Era Softworks, a studio that it claims is made up of veterans of the game industry.
