Images of Valve’s unannounced VR glasses pop up duiken
Images have appeared of unannounced VR glasses, on which the Valve logo can be seen. The exact context is lacking, but it’s possible that Valve is planning to start selling virtual reality glasses itself.
After the images appeared online, an unnamed source confirmed to Upload VR that Valve plans to release VR goggles of its own; Currently, the company itself does not have VR glasses on the market, but collaborated with HTC in releasing the Vive series.
According to the Upload VR source, the unannounced Valve goggles have a 135-degree field of view and are considering shipping the previously announced Knuckles controllers. There would also be a VR game for the glasses in the Half Life series, although it would not be Half Life 3. The resolution of the glasses would be the same as the HTC Vive Pro, which has a resolution of 2880×1600 pixels, or 1440×1600 pixels per eye. It can also be seen that there are two cameras built into the front, probably for tracking. In addition, there is built-in audio and the headband resembles that of the HTC Vive Pro.
It is unclear when Valve wants to release the VR glasses. It is also not yet known what price will be asked for the device. It is likely that Valve provides the glasses with SteamVR.
