Apple releases watchOS 5.1.1 update after issues with previous version
Apple released WatchOS 5.1.1 after it pulled the watchOS 5.1 update last week when some of the Apple Watch Series 4 users reported issues. For some, after the watchOS 5.1 update, their smartwatches got stuck at the Apple logo after booting.
Apple released watchOS 5.1.1 Monday and it replaces the previous week’s withdrawn watchOS version 5.1. The watchOS 5.1.1 release notes don’t mention the crashing Apple Watch Series 4 smartwatches. However, several websites report that the bug that caused the issues is not part of the new update and that the issues should be resolved.
WatchOS 5.1 mainly contained bug fixes and added a fourth-generation feature to automatically contact emergency services if the watch detects no movement for a minute after a hard fall. This feature is also described in the watchOS 5.1.1 notes. Furthermore, the latest update fixes an issue where the Walkie-Talkie app would not install completely.
