Xiaomi will announce Mi Mix 3 with 5G and 10GB RAM next week
Xiaomi has announced an event to showcase the Mi Mix 3, its upcoming high-end smartphone. It will be the first smartphone in the world with 5G support, the Chinese manufacturer says.
The invitation, which Xiaomi has put on its Spanish-language Facebook page, among other things, shows the shapes of a phone with a sliding camera at the top. The accompanying text makes it clear that the device, which the manufacturer presents on October 25, will have 5G support.
Xiaomi previously said that the Mi Mix 3 would support 5g. It is also unknown on what frequencies and with what techniques the 5G support of the Mi Mix 3 will work, but last month the manufacturer hinted that it will be on 28GHz bands, frequencies that allow data rates of tens of gigabits per second.
No commercial 5G networks for smartphones are operational yet. The American provider offers 5G for home internet in various cities in the United States and many mobile providers have done tests, but the first networks are not expected to be available to customers until next year.
The device will also have at least a variant with 10GB of RAM, according to a Weibo post. There have been rumors for months about smartphones with 10GB of memory, such as a variant of the Oppo Find X, but so far they have not materialized. Many smartphones have 8GB of lpddr4x on board.
