Synology Introduces MR2200ac Knife Router
Synology releases its first mesh router: the MR2200ac. The triband router with mu-mimo runs Synology Router Manager 1.2 and can set up mesh networks in combination with other MR2200ac models or the Synology RT2600ac.
The Synology MR2200ac has a Qualcomm IPQ4019 quad-core processor that does its job at 717MHz, 256MB DDR3, a LAN and WAN Ethernet port, and a single USB 3.0 port. The mu-mimo router supports 2.4GHz and two 5GHz bands, and the antennas are integrated into the device. The device supports wpa3.
The company’s first mesh router has appeared several times before, the first time being a year ago at an event in Utrecht. Now Synology has the router and the time of availability announced during his Synology 2019 tour of various cities worldwide. The mesh router will be released on October 16 for $139, while the company is in Paris would have said that the price in Europe will be 135 euros. On October 18, Synology will visit Utrecht, with probably more information about price and availability in the Benelux.
The MR2200ac runs Synology Router Manager 1.2, which is also available for the RT2600ac, but not for the company’s first router, the RT1900ac. This software regulates, among other things, access for individual users, temporary access to, for example, guests, and black and white lists of websites.
