Rumor: iPad Pro will not have a screen notch and can output 4k images via USB-C
According to a new rumor, the upcoming Apple iPad Pro can send 4k images with HDR via a USB-C port. There is also a new magnetic connector on the back of the device. The iPad Pro gets Face ID, but it doesn’t require a notch in the screen.
The notch in the screen of the iPhones will not come on iPads, because the bezel is large enough to house the sensors for Face ID, writes Guilherme Rambo at 9to5mac. Rambo has proven in the past to have correct information about unannounced Apple products more often. He put the renders of the iPhone XS, XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 online early, among other things.
According to his sources, Face ID works in portrait and landscape, but not upside down, he states. There is a USB-C port on the bottom of the housing. This allows the user to connect an external display to the iPad Pro. That external screen can have a 4k resolution with HDR support.
It would be the first time that an iOS device gets a standard USB connection. Apple has so far stuck with its own Lightning connector, which has been on the manufacturer’s mobile devices since 2012. There would also be a new connector for accessories at the back.
It is unknown when Apple would like to present the new iPads. Because the models appear in the beta of iOS 12.1 with the name iPad2018Fall, it is obvious that they will appear this fall. The manufacturer has not yet announced an event. At such an event, Apple could also showcase new Mac hardware. There have been rumors for some time about a replacement for the MacBook Air and Mac Mini.
