CoD: Black Ops 4 battle royale mode has 120fps frame rate cap at launch
Developer Treyarch is giving the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PC a frame rate cap of 120fps when the game comes out. During the beta, that was 90fps. Later the limit is increased to 144fps and eventually the limit should go away.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 comes out on October 12, and Treyarch is detailing the PC version on Reddit. During the beta, the Blackout mode had a frame rate cap of 90fps, according to its own statement to monitor the performance and stability of the servers.
According to the developer, the frame rate affects the load on the servers and there will also be a limit when the game is finally released. Initially, that’s 120fps, and “once the servers are stable,” it’ll be 144fps, Treyarch says.
If everything goes smoothly, the developer expects that all limits can be removed within a few days. The regular multiplayer mode and the zombie mode have no frame rate limit.
