According to PConline, AMD will present a new version of a Radeon GPU with 2048 stream processors between October 12 and 15, just like the RX 570. The chip would be made at 12nm instead of 14nm and have higher clock speeds.

The Chinese website bases its publication on sources from video card makers. AMD would call the refresh of the GPU Polaris 30. By making the GPU at 12nm, it would be possible to increase the clock speeds somewhat compared to the current GPUs that are made at 14nm. In addition to a refresh of the RX 570, a new version of the RX 580 would also be on the way, but it would be announced later in November. Details about the pricing and naming of the new Radeon graphics cards are still unknown.

According to the rumor, it is a refresh of the GPU and there are no changes to the architecture. It would be the second time AMD has improved its Polaris GPU. AMD has been using these chips for its Radeon RX graphics cards since 2016, first in the RX 400 series and a year later in the RX 500 series. The GPUs of the RX 500 models are clocked slightly higher, but are still made at 14nm. AMD made the step from 14nm to 12nm earlier this year for its second-generation Ryzen processors.

For a new generation of video cards with the new Navi GPU, AMD wants to switch to 7nm. The company has been working on this for some time and showed a prototype of a Vega GPU at 7nm in June. Such cards will first find their way to servers. Consumer video cards made at 7nm are expected next year at the earliest.
