Dell Releases 21mm Thin 15.6″ Alienware Gaming Laptop
Dell has announced the Alienware m15. The laptop with 15.6″ screen is thinner and a lot lighter than the previous Alienware 15. The manufacturer equips the laptop with a maximum of a Core i7 hexacore and GeForce GTX 1070.
The Alienware m15 has a thickness of 21 mm and weighs 2.16 kilograms, compared to 25.4 mm and 3.49 kilograms for the Alienware 15. According to Dell, the model is lighter than the Alienware 13, which weighs 2.6 kilograms. Dell equips the Alienware laptop with the Core i5-8300H and the Intel Core i7-8750H and with the Nvidia 1060 or 1070 Max-Q. In addition, there is up to 32GB of RAM and there are various storage configurations, including combinations with an Intel Optane SSD of 120GB and with an M2 SSD of up to 512GB.
There will also be models with a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and maximum brightness of 300cd/m², while variants will have a 4k screen and brightness of 400cd/m². This concerns IPS screens, but AnandTech also speaks of the arrival of an Alienware m15 with 144Hz screen, with tn panel.
Instead of the regular network card with 2×2 WiFi-ac and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a choice of the Killer Wireless 1550, which combines 2×2 WiFi-ac with Bluetooth 5.0. There is a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3 and three USB-A variants of the 3.1 Gen 1 generation. Furthermore, mini displayport 1.3 and hdmi 2.0 are present.
In the US, Dell will start sales on October 25 with a starting price of $1300. When the laptop will be released in the Benelux and for what price is unknown.
