HMD releases Android 9 for Nokia 7 Plus
HMD has started releasing Android 9.0 Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus. This is the final version. After the Pixel phones from Google and the OnePlus 6, the device is one of the first smartphones to receive the new Android version.
Juho Sarvikas, responsible for HMD’s Nokia phones, says on Twitter that the upgrade to Android 9 will be released in phases. First, devices that are not sold through providers get the upgrade, devices from providers will follow a little later due to the necessary approvals. Initially, 10 percent of Nokia 7 Plus users will receive the upgrade, if everything goes well, more users will receive the new version.
The Nokia 7 Plus was already part of the Android P beta program. It is the first device from HMD to receive the upgrade to Android 9. HMD promised back in May that it will upgrade all of its Nokia smartphones it has made so far to Anroid 9 Pie. These are the phones that were released last year and this year.
Since this year, HMD brings all its Nokia devices that come out in Europe under the Android One program, which guarantees timely upgrades and security updates and means that the software has not or hardly been adjusted.
