Synology introduces €105 entry-level DiskStation DS119j van

Synology has announced the DiskStation DS119j. According to the manufacturer, the model is intended for people who purchase a NAS for the first time. The device has a suggested retail price of 105 euros.

The DiskStation DS119j offers space for a single hard drive, has a single gigabit LAN interface and has two USB 2.0 ports. The nas also has a dual-core processor at 800MHz, the Marvell Armada 3700 88F3720, in combination with 256MB ddr3l.

There are four modes for the fan: full speed, cool, quiet and energy efficient. According to the manufacturer, the storage system functions as whisper-quiet, probably referring to the silent mode. The NAS consumes 5.01 watts when the hdd is in sleep mode and 10.04 watts during use, measured in combination with a Western Digital 1TB WD10EFRX.

The NAS runs on DiskStation Manager. Synology could not yet provide the suggested retail price, but it is now available online at the German Geizhals for prices between 100 and 120 euros.

Update, 14.50: Synology announces that the suggested retail price is 105 euros including VAT.
