Nintendo saves online storage six months after Switch Online subscription ends
When a Nintendo Switch Online subscription ends, the saved content will be kept on the servers for six months. Anyone who pays for the service again within that period will regain access to the storage space and files.
Nintendo reports in a response to IGN that online saved data will not immediately disappear when the subscription expires. Those who no longer purchase the service will no longer have access to the data, but those who renew their subscription within six months can access it again. Previously, it was not clear what happened to the data when players cancel their Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
The FAQ on the Nintendo UK website states the question; “When my Nintendo Switch Online subscription expires, will my Save Data Cloud files and my NES-Nintendo Switch Online files be deleted?” The answer is that users cannot keep files outside of the subscription. This gave the impression that Nintendo deleted the data.
