Valve to moderate reported Steam forum discussions
Valve’s moderation team will investigate user-reported threads and discussions at the request of several developers. Beginning September 25, the team will be looking for forum posts that push or go beyond the boundaries of the guidelines.
Valve will let you know what the plan of action will be via the Steam blog. The moderation team will only delve into discussions and threads that have been reported. They will review the team and remove any posts that go against the guidelines for discussion groups, reviews, and user-created content.
Valve indicated that it has been reluctant to moderate individual discussion groups in the past. “But over time, we’re hearing from more and more developers that they want us to take a more active role in discussion forums, or at least investigate posts reported by other players,” the company said. The developers are free to decide whether or not to engage Valve’s assistance.
The moderation team will not assume a more active role than this. “We will not actively review your community discussions or leave messages in discussions. You have your own voice and your own style of communication with players about the game. We only communicate with players as necessary when issuing a warning or ban on reported content .” says Valve in the blog post.
