Jagex adds Soul Wars pvp mode to Old School RuneScape
Developer Jagex has added Soul Wars pvp mode to Old School RuneScape. This minigame has been in the regular RuneScape since 2009 and allows up to one hundred and twenty players to play against each other. The aim of the game is to kill the opponent’s Avatar.
In Soul Wars, two teams of ten to sixty people compete against each other. According to Jagex, each team has its own base with an Avatar, Graveyard and Supply Area. The Graveyard is the zone where players spawn after dying. In the Supply Area, players can pick up health items, barricades, and potions. Most important, though, is the Avatar, a large creature with low Defense points and lots of hit points. Players must see the enemy team’s Avatar to lay. When killed, the Avatar respawns.
A round lasts 15 minutes, but is over sooner if one of the Avatars has been killed more than five times. Players can earn victory points that can be exchanged for rewards in the mode. Players can also improve their Combat Skills and they will not lose any items when dying during the minigame. To participate in Soul Wars, players must be at least level 500 and have a combat level of 40 or higher. They must also be logged in to the correct servers, W320 and W350.
According to Jagex, the minigame was a much-requested game mode from the players. Of more than 50,000 players surveyed, 83 percent would have voted for the inclusion of the game mode. The developer hints to bring more RuneScape components to Old School RuneScape in the future.
