Man plays Mario 64 with mouse
Play Super Mario 64 with a mouse? It’s very difficult, but not impossible. Javi Rodriguez of the YouTube channel Critbox had risen to the challenge. He managed to get seventy stars and beat the final boss.
The mouse was specially designed for the Nintendo 64DD. This 64 Dynamic Drive was an accessory for the Nintendo 64 that only appeared on the Japanese market. It was a magneto-optical drive for 64MB disks that provided extra storage space and the DD even had an internal clock. The mouse was included in a bundle with Mario Artist: Paint Studio, which was developed especially for the DD.
Since neither the Nintendo64DD nor the bundle were ever released outside of Japan, they are both quite rare in the West. The mouse works about the same as a regular N64 controller, but has fewer functions. The left and right mouse buttons act as the A and B buttons and the ball in the mouse serves as the analog stick, which should allow movement.
In total, Rodriguez took nine hours to complete the game with the minimum requirements.
