Commit points out that signing in to Windows 10 with Google account will be possible
A commit points out that Google is working on a way to sign into Windows 10 with a Google account. To do this, the search company must become a ‘Credential Provider for Windows’. It is unknown what Google intends to use the technology for.
G Suite may allow business users to log in to managed PCs with a Google account, but the search giant may be working on a way for consumers to log in to a PC, Bleeping Computer claims.
That Google is working on it, according to a commit for Chromium, the open source version of Chrome. Chromestory found that commit. When the feature is active, users must install a program called gcp_installer.exe. This places, among other things, an entry in the register to enable the login. It also automatically starts Chrome, although that does not seem necessary for the functionality.
It is unknown if and when Google would allow logging into Windows 10 with a Google account. The search giant won’t comment on the commit or say anything about plans with the software. Microsoft announced this week that logging in to Azure AD B2B with a Google account is possible in a preview.
