AMD announces Radeon Pro V340 with two Vega GPUs and 32GB hbm2
AMD has announced a new card in its business Radeon Pro V series. The Radeon Pro V340 has two Vega GPUs produced at 14nm, supplemented with error correcting code hbm of the second generation.
With the Radeon Pro V340, AMD is mainly targeting the desktop as a service market, according to the announcement. The GPU designer emphasizes that the card supports up to 32 virtual machines of 1GB with its memory. In addition, the card is suitable as an accelerator for visualization applications such as cloud gaming, according to AMD.
The card supports AMD’s MxGPU for hardware virtualization of GPUs. This technology competes with Nvidia’s GRID and is supported by Citrix and VMware, among others. AMD announced the Pro V340 during VMworld, VMware’s virtualization and cloud computing conference.
The Radeon Pro V340 has an integrated engine for encoding both h264 and h265 video streams and an AMD Security Processor is present, for encrypted storage, among other things. According to AMD, the Pro V340 accelerator should be available in the fourth quarter of this year. The price is still unknown.
