Plug-in makes it possible to overclock PS Vita to 500MHz
It appears to be possible to boost the processor clock speed in the PlayStation Vita to about 500MHz. This works with a plug-in that can be downloaded for free. There were plug-ins to increase the clock speed before, but that didn’t go beyond 444MHz.
The website Wololo.net discovered the plugin after the first experiences appeared on Reddit shortly before. The makers of the plug-in, called LOLIcon, call themselves dots-tb, and they have already released an improved version a number of times, including to fix delays in the menu. The necessary software can be downloaded on Github and must be installed as a plug-in.
After installing the plug-in, the PlayStation Vita’s processor will run at a clock speed of 500MHz, while the processor is specified to run at a maximum speed of 444MHz. Plug-ins have already been released that can increase the clock speed of the Vita, but these were limited to 444MHz. With LOLIcon there is therefore for the first time a real overclock.
Earlier this year, Sony announced that it would stop producing physical games for the PS Vita. The manufacturer also announced that owners of the handheld console will no longer receive free games from next year.
