Samsung presents curved 16:9 gaming monitors with 144Hz VA panel
Samsung announces two monitors in the CJG5 series. It concerns a 27″ copy and a 32″ variant. They are 16:9 monitors with a VA panel with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
Samsung presents the monitors during Gamescom and is therefore targeting gamers. The specifications of the C32JG5 and the C27JG5 are the same, only the size of the panel differs. The monitors have a curvature of 1800R, which is equal to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1.8 meters.
The maximum brightness is 300cd/m2 and the contrast ratio would be 3000:1. Furthermore, Samsung specifies a gray-to-gray response time of 4ms. In the announcement, Samsung makes no mention of Nvidia G-Sync or FreeSync support. The lack of that is striking for a gaming monitor.
According to the South Korean manufacturer, these are affordable models, but euro prices are not yet known. In the UK prices of £310 and £360 are quoted for the 27″ and 32″ versions respectively. That is converted about 345 and 401 euros.
