a powerful and versatile hub for home audio
Sonos unveiled the new Sonos Amp at the IFA in Berlin. This is a powerful and versatile hub for home audio that provides traditional wired speakers with sound from almost any source and fully integrates these speakers into Sonos’ easy-to-use wireless home sound system.
Amp
Amp – specially designed to fit perfectly into the standard AV rack that professional installers use – provides up to four speakers of 125 watts per channel, more than enough for even the most demanding systems. Integrated HDMI and line input ports mean that TVs, turntables, CD changers and other audio components can easily be connected to Amp and thus become part of the Sonos system.
Amp’s carefully designed and versatile hardware was developed to give the Sonos software platform more power. New updates for the platform ensure that installers can easily integrate Amp into integrated smart home systems, including in smart lighting and central control systems.
Wireless
Furthermore, Amp is also compatible with AirPlay2 so that music and other audio from any iOS device can be played wirelessly via Amp. And when Amp is wirelessly connected to a speaker that supports Amazon Alexa, such as the Sonos One or Beam, it can also be operated via voice commands in the future. Finally, Amp, like all other Sonos devices, will get new functions, services and integrations over time. This is done through free software updates and ensures that Sonos users can still get the best out of their system for many years.
