Intel Introduces 25 New Coffee Lake Refresh Desktop Processors
Intel is expanding its ninth-generation Core desktop processor lineup with 25 models. These include economical T versions, F variants without GPU and new Pentiums and Celerons.
Intel announced the new desktop CPUs at the same time as the arrival of octa-core processors for laptops. The new processors are of the Coffee Lake Refresh generation and are again made at 14nm. At the top of the segment, nothing changes; the existing i9-9900K is still the top model. There will be a new i9-9900 that does not have an unlocked multiplier. The i9-9900 is also the first and for now only desktop processor with support for Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost. In addition, the clock speed is increased by 100MHz if the CPU temperature is less than 70°C. Intel also uses this technology in Core i9 models for laptops.
Intel also comes with the i7-9700 and the i7-9700F. These are octacores without HyperThreading and the F version has no integrated GPU. Intel is expanding the range further with more Core i5 and i3 variants, including the overclockable Core i3-9350K. There was already an i3-9350KF version for sale without igpu.
Intel is also officially releasing its Coffee Lake T processors, details of which recently surfaced. These are variants with lower clock speeds and a lower TDP of 35W. The top model is the i9-9900T, with eight cores and a speed of 2.1GHz and a turbo speed of 4.4GHz.
Finally, the list includes a range of new Pentium Gold and Celeron Gold models. It is the processors about which information appeared at the beginning of this year. The Pentium models are dual cores with HyperThreading, the Celerons are also dual cores but they can work on a maximum of two threads. Also, the Celerons have less L3 cache.
All new processors work in conjunction with existing motherboards with Intel’s 300 chipsets and use the lga1151 socket.
