Huawei brings Emui 9.1 upgrade based on Android 9 to 46 devices
Huawei has put a list online containing 46 devices that will receive an upgrade to the Emui 9.1 software based on Android 9. It concerns both Huawei and Honor smartphones and a number of MediaPad tablets also receive the software.
The list was put online by Huawei on Weibo and that was noticed by XDA Developers. Emui 9.1 was first released with the Huawei P30 models and a beta is already available for the Mate 20 models, but many other devices also receive the software.
The list includes top models from the past two years, such as the Mate 9 and 10 series, the P10 and P20 series. Midrange devices from the Nova series and from the Honor sub-brand also receive the upgrade. The Huawei P Smart models are not on the list and the P20 Lite and P10 Lite are also missing.
The list comes from China and so the devices are listed by their Chinese name. Huawei sells many smartphones under different names in other regions. For example, the Nova 3e is equal to the P20 Lite, the P Smart is the Enjoy 7s and the P10 Lite is the Enjoy Youth. Those models are on the list and it therefore seems likely that the European versions will also receive the upgrade.
Huawei will not announce when the Emui 9.1 upgrades for the devices will come, but will report which devices are already in a test phase and which models are scheduled to upgrade at a later date. Emui 9.1 includes the GPU Turbo 3.0 modules for games and the ability to activate Google Assistant with the press of the power button.
