TCL will start selling video glasses with OLED screens in Australia next month
TCL has renamed the previously announced Wearable Display to Nxtwear G. These video glasses will be available in Australia from next month, where they will cost the equivalent of 571 euros. Later, the glasses should also appear in other countries, TCL does not mention precise countries.
The TCL Nxtwear G is a pair of video glasses with two 1920×1080 OLED panels from Sony and stereo speakers. It’s not about ‘smart’ glasses; the device cannot display images on its own. Instead, the glasses can be connected to other devices, such as smartphones and PCs, via the USB-C port. These also provide the glasses with the necessary energy.
The frame is black and made of metal, with certain parts made of nylon and presumably silicone for comfort. The glasses come with a travel case and three adjustable nose pads. There is also a lens adapter to adapt the glasses to the eye strength of the user.
The Nxtwear G has an ‘open-fit’ design, which allows the user to look at the outside world under and above the glasses, for example. For example, the user must still be able to use a keyboard or talk to people.
TCL has been talking about video glasses for some time; for example, it announced in January that it would finally put the glasses on the market. Back then it was still about the Wearable Display, previously a prototype of the glasses was known as Project Archery. In January, TCL said the glasses would create a virtual screen, comparable to a 140-inch screen at a distance of four meters, with a resolution of 49 pixels per degree.
