Amazon introduces global bug bounty competition AWS BugBust
Amazon is introducing a new global competition called AWS BugBust. Through this competition, the company says it wants to reduce the technical damage incurred in the worldwide code industry by more than 100 million dollars.
“With BugBust, we want to make detecting and fixing bugs a game”, says technical evangelist Martin Beeby. “You can create events within the company, view leaderboards, create custom challenges and claim rewards,” Beeby said on a company blog page.
The overall leaderboard works with a points system. A developer who has collected 100 points wins a t-shirt, 2000 points gives a jacket. The top 10 on September 30 of this year will be invited to the upcoming event of the company AWS re:Invent
AWS BugBust uses Amazon’s proprietary tools to find and fix bugs: CodeGuru Reviewer and CodeGuru Profiler. To enter the global competition, software must be written in Python or Java.
