Tesla adds some Atari games to new software update
Elon Musk, the director of car manufacturer Tesla, is not averse to adding Easter eggs every now and then. In that context, he recently announced that his company will add a number of classic Atari games to the Tesla cars through software update 9.0.
Musk asked on Twitter what users’ favorite Atari games are. A Twitter user listed a personal list, after which Musk reported that he hopes at least release Tempest, Missile Command and Pole Position with V9.0. The latter title is a racing game, which, according to a tweet from Musk, can soon be controlled with the steering wheel of a Tesla car, provided the car is stationary.
The games will be released with this update, which in about four weeks comes true. Musk seems to be taking it fairly seriously, as he also has a call asked game developers to apply to Tesla. He says his company wants to make fun games that are integrated into the central touchscreen, the smartphone and the car.
Elon Musk has previously indicated on Twitter that version 9 of Tesla’s Autopilot software will be released in August, which will probably enable some functions at a later time in the context of fully autonomous driving. The release of this new software is likely to follow in late August or early September.
