Android users have recently received a setting that allows them to activate a dark mode within the YouTube app. The feature has been available on iOS and the desktop for some time now.

According to 9to5Google and posts on Reddit, the first users will see a popup within the app notifying them of the addition. The function can be managed within the settings menu under the ‘general’ section. The dark mode for Android took a while, iOS users had that option since March, when YouTube announced the feature. It is unknown how soon the feature will be available to all Android users.
YouTube announced its revamped design three months ago, which includes a dark mode for desktop users. It had been hidden on the site for some time before that. Other companies are also introducing the option to enable dark mode. Earlier this month, it emerged that Microsoft was working on a dark theme for Outlook.com. This option is now available. The capability is also in macOS Mojave.
