Reddit will open chat room option to all subreddits at the end of this month

From the end of this month, Reddit will open the option to create chat rooms to moderators of all subreddits. The site has announced that. A small group of people on Reddit have been testing the feature in recent months.

Only moderators can create chat rooms, and they can choose the topic, from general to very specific, Wired reports based on information from Reddit. Then people can chat within that subreddit without it being based on a Reddit post. The intention is to better connect users of the site with each other, Reddit reports.

Users see the subreddit-based chat rooms in an interface reminiscent of chat applications. The chat rooms also sort comments chronologically, unlike Reddit itself which shows threads of comments on scores. Reddit has been testing the chat rooms for several months now and says it has received a lot of feedback.
