New Hearthstone Expansion Called The Boomsday Project Coming August 7th
Blizzard has announced a new Hearthstone expansion called The Boomsday Project, which appears to have science and mechs as its central theme. The expansion will be released on August 7. Until then, Blizzard wants to announce more cards.
Blizzard explains more about the new expansion in a published video. It has also set up a site, but it is down at the time of writing. The video shows that The Boomsday Project is introducing a new keyword called magnetic. Cards that have this property can be played individually on the board. However, if the player has a mech in play, the card will also “fuse” with that mech, giving it the card’s attributes and stats.
Furthermore, there are so-called Project cards, which benefit both players. Blizzard reveals a 1 mana card that gives both players 2 mana crystals. Another addition is Omega cards, which have a special effect when a player has reached ten mana crystals. Apart from the existing quest spells, Blizzard finally introduces legendary spells, for example the Myra’s Unstable Element spell that lets a player draw cards until his deck is empty. Blizzard also shows a new legendary elemental in the form of Electra Stormsurge.
Before the expansion comes out on August 7, there will be a livestream on July 23 with more details. As with other expansions, players can pre-purchase a bundle of 50 card packs. This time there is a random golden legendary with a card back. There is now also an option to pre-order 80 packs, which include the aforementioned extras including the Warlock hero Mecha-Jaraxxus. Both bundles can also be ordered, according to Blizzard.
