Warframe is coming to Nintendo Switch
The popular free-to-play shooter Warframe is coming to Nintendo Switch. Developer Digital Extremes announced this during TennoLive 2018, the annual event around the game.
The announcement was accompanied by the release of a trailer during TennoLive and the game’s site now lists the Switch version as ‘in dev’, alongside the PC, PlayStation and Xbox versions that are already ‘live’. Developer Panic Button is responsible for the port. Previously, that studio made Wolfenstein 2, Doom and Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch.
Details about the version are not known. For example, it is unknown when the game will be released for Nintendo’s console. Warframe is a free-to-play game that was released in 2013 and received poor reception. However, partly due to numerous updates, the game has slowly but surely built up a large fan base and it is one of the most played games on Steam, for example. The third-person shooter does not support cross-platform.
Canadian studio Digital Extremes was one of the studios behind Unreal and Unreal Tournament.
