Fiberglass project Heerhugowaard is off the track due to too few registrations

E-Fiber has announced that no fiber optic network will be installed in Heerhugowaard. According to the company, there were still too few registrations for taking out a fiber optic subscription on the deadline of 1 July.

Because the number of registrations has not reached the threshold value, it is unprofitable according to E-Fiber to install the fiber optic network. The company will terminate the agreements with the people who have signed up, free of charge. There will be no extension period.

A few days ago, an E-Fiber page stated that the number of registrations achieved was 23 of the required 35 percent, although this was disputed by a local politician. Alderman Monique Stam said that the actual percentage was 3.3. She suspected that E-Fiber had deliberately increased the percentage to get residents to sign up anyway. From a percentage of 35, the construction of the network would have been free for the users.

According to E-Fiber, the number of registrations for a fiber optic network in Koggenland was almost reached on 1 July. That is why the company has decided to set an extension period for this region. This will last until October 28. If at least 40 percent has registered, the network will be installed here for free. For Koggenland, the counter was reportedly at 27 percent recently. For Schagen, the deadline for 35 percent is July 15; here the counter would be 25 percent.
