Left 4 Dead creators working on new game in ‘globally known game franchise’
Turtle Rock, the game studio that created the two Left 4 Dead games and Evolve, is working on a new game in a ‘worldwide known game franchise’. This is apparent from a vacancy that the company has put online.
Members of the gaming forum ResetEra discovered that the American game maker has these plans. In the vacancy, the studio says it is looking for a level designer. Besides the fact that it would be a large, well-known franchise, candidates are also asked to create levels where collaboration between teammates is important. Also asked about experience in creating levels for ‘competitive first-person shooters’.
Turtle Rock was acquired by Valve shortly after the release of Left 4 Dead, after which the studio was renamed Valve South. In 2011, the game maker again became independent and took its old name again. Other than a mobile game, Evolve is the only game the studio has released so far, although it has also contributed to several Counter-Strike titles and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. In the past ten years, Turtle Rock has mainly focused on multiplayer games where collaboration is particularly important. Despite long-term developer efforts and a move to free-to-play, Evolve was not a success.
